  1. Kevin… I have been a long time reader of your blog. I never commented before, so let me begin by saying that you are doing a great job.

Now my comment about this Apple “Fun” event:

Steve gathered up the media to show us an iPod speaker system, an iPod sleeve, and a mac mini with a remote.

What a bummer of an event. Honestly a speaker system that is ugly… and he calls that “re-invented”. PLEASE!
Apple has been selling speakers with iPod docks for years!

ok the sleeve.. really we need a media event for a sleeve. I’ll let this one roll.

Finally the mac mini. Now I wish this was such a huge thing.. but it isn’t. An airport express with video streaming capabilities would have been a much bigger announcement.. and Steve could have even included a remote if he wanted and knocked himself out.

C’mon steve… give us a bigger screen ipod, give us a mac-tablet or at the very least update those powermac’s and ibooks… not the mini. WHO CARES ABOUT THE MINI!

  2. For a moment, I thought you were someone else I knew under the same pseudo name! (Just look on my blogroll to figure this out). Great blog you have by the way čÖé

Misguided, your opinion isn’t far from what the general online populace thinks too. If you look at the Engadget blog, most of the comments seem to toss tomatoes in Apple’s general direction. One thing though, while most of the products don’t really wow us, the Mac mini is attractive to many. For it’s size, it does an amazing assortment of things really well. I’ve got geek friends everywhere in agreement that it’s a Good Buy.

On the iBook or smaller portable Mac, I am waiting for that. The MacBook Pro is powerful, but it’s too big for my travelling lifestyle (I bring my 12″ Powerbook everywhere). I’m hoping for a smaller version and I know Apple’s working on it. Don’t forget that it would be a technical achievement to design something that small and that powerful! It will come, it’s just a matter of when.

Oh, I said exactly the same thing about an updated Airport Express with video sharing capabilities. čśŤ

  3. regardless of what people may think of the apple branded ipod leather pouch, or the ipod boombox, the new mac mini is definitely worthy of a press release. My gut is that this new mini is going to be a huge seller for apple – it allows customers to take a small step up from their ipod with a machine that can compete with the x86 processors.
