Have you ever played Ultima? I used to spend so much of my childhood in front of the green florescent screen of the Apple II playing Ultima III, which was a really really absorbing RPG back in the hey days. I even remembered the manual being a thick book of lore, which is a rare find nowadays in games we buy.
Kotaku notes that this team of 30 developers took five years to put together an amazing rework of Origin Systems’ Ultima V from 1987. The new version is in fact a mod built on the Dungeon Siege engine and features an enhanced storyline, characters and settings all based on the original game. It also includes new side quests, a deeper richer plot and enhanced dialogue. The game is the first Ultima remake project to ever actually reach the finish line. Weighing in at over 500 megabytes, with nearly 300 unique NPCs, and literally hundreds of hours of play value, Lazarus is now available for both PC and Mac!
