High Browse Online: Singapore's Book Blog

One thing I’m proud about Singapore is the world class standard of our community libraries, which I think are spoiling folks back home. Especially since they’ve recently opened the brand new national library downtown, Singaporeans really won’t know what the rest of us are missing till they’ve checked out libraries elsewhere.

On that note, I’ve been told that there’s a new book blog run by the National Library Board (NLB) called High Browse Online (HBO). Ivan Chew, an avid Singaporean blogger and librarian from the National Library Board, invites each and every one of us to blog about the books we read. While plenty of us blog about movies, food, web sites and sometimes our trips, have we been reading as widely as before?

High Browse Online is an initiative by the Public Library Services of NLB which features book reviews, librarians’ recommendations, readers’ contributions, and events at public libraries. They’re on the look out for review submissions on “who’s reading what”, as well as for readers to post comments or contribute recommendations.

If you love reading, why not write a personal review of books you’ve read and recommend them to others on High Browse Online? I personally think that not only would you be helping introduce books to others, but it’s also a great opportunity for you to get out there and make new friends.

  1. Oh gosh, Kevin… “Duty to Read”… so serious one : )
Thanks for this. I’ve got my eye on your earlier book-related posts. Will let you know which one I intend to use. Thanks for the plug on High Browse Online.
