“Video Games” Live in Concert

ARGH! I wish I could go!
The Los Angeles Philharmonic is having a night that both geeks and symphonic music aficionados will love. Called Video Games Live, the live concert event featuring full orchestra and choir performing music from the greatest video games, plus laser and light sequences, video clips, live characters, and a special segment dedicated to retro arcade classics! Games scheduled to be included are: Halo®, Metal Gear Solid®, Warcraft®, Tron®, Myst®, Medal of Honor®, Tomb Raider®, Advent Rising® (this game is even out yet!), Sonic The Hedgehog®, HeadHunter®, and Beyond Good & Evil®. For those who live in L.A., it’ll be on Wednesday, July 6, 2005, 8:00 PM at:
Hollywood Bowl, 2301 N. Highland Avenue, Hollywood, CA. Tel (323) 850-2000

Oh well, at least we still have…
The amazing Nintendo A Capella video!

Via MeFi, a Madison Wisconsin a cappella group, called Redefined, sings and acts out the greatest Nintendo backing tracks in this video of a live performance. The Zelda and Tetris ones are priceless. Apparently group has not been performing for more than a year, but the video only started to make it’s rounds on the Internet.

Here is the playlist for the Nintendo Medley by UW Redefined:
1) Mario Bros. “Flag/Stage Clear”
2) Super Mario Bros. Main Theme
3) Dr. Mario
4) Mario Bros. 3
5) Mario Bros. “Star”
6) Tetris
7) Mortal Kombat
8) Mario Bros. “Dungeon”
9) The Legend of Zelda
10) Mario Bros. “Game Over”

But that’s not all! Not by a long shot!
Jake Kaufman, best know as a video game remixer and composer, has done some of his own solo a cappella game music (bottom of web page). Just check out his one-man Star Wars cappella!

Finally, if you really must, robosexual has a collection of original Nintendo game console music in mp3 format for the young gamer in you.
